CLEOPATRA MIRAMARE

KLEOPATRA MIRAMARE, wife of Apostolos Vainopoulos, captain in the British Navy. He met her on one of his journeys.

He built a beautiful "prison" for her on the edge of the bay. Despite her love for the sea, Kleopatra could not bear the loneliness.

Her life in Damouchari had nothing in common with her life in cosmopolitan Bucharest. She died five years latter, leaving behind elaborate laces and a beautifully embroidered pillowcase.

The captain, though, kept her memory alive and his descendants, a century later, repeat her story as a fairy tale, to their own descendants.
