CLEOPATRA MIRAMARE |

|
KLEOPATRA MIRAMARE, wife of Apostolos Vainopoulos, captain in the British Navy. He met her on one of his journeys. He built a beautiful "prison" for her on the edge of the bay. Despite her love for the sea, Kleopatra could not bear the loneliness. |
|
Her life in Damouchari had nothing in
common with her life in cosmopolitan Bucharest. She died five years
latter, leaving behind elaborate laces and a beautifully embroidered
pillowcase.
The captain, though, kept her memory alive and his descendants, a century later, repeat her story as a fairy tale, to their own descendants. |
